My current position with UK allows me the unique opportunity for visiting the homes of beneficiaries of Social Security Administration to ensure their needs are being met. Whether I'm driving to the head of a mountain holler or onto a rural farm in the Western Kentucky Coal Field, each visit gives me a thread for understanding the tapestry that makes us uniquely Kentuckians. With 25 years of experience working with Kentuckians with disabilities, I've too often noted our neighbors with disabilities experiencing isolation, environmental barriers, joblessness, lack of appropriate services, little natural supports, and substandard healthcare. I count myself fortunate to be part of UK, which has been and will continue to be on the forefront of remedying these issues.
