UK Remembers
Honor and Celebrate Those We Have Lost
President Eli Capilouto: UK Remembers
UK Remembers is a virtual ceremony that celebrates the memory of any member of our community who has passed in the last year. This could include students, staff, faculty, alumni, or anyone else who has played a part in the individual or community experience at the university.
A special remembrance event will take place Wednesday, Sept. 23, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Library Walkway. During the event, attendees will receive and place a memorial card in honor of someone they wish to remember. The cards will create a collective display celebrating the lives and legacies of those being honored.
All names submitted online and in person will be displayed along the sidewalk between the Mining and Minerals building and Rose Street Parking structure towards W.T. Young Library.
UK Remembers 2026
This year, the UK Staff Senate will host UK Remembers Sept. 21-25, 2026, inviting faculty, staff and students to honor UK community members who have passed away since the spring of 2022. Participants are also encouraged to recognize family members, friends and other loved ones whose memories continue to hold special meaning in their lives.
