University of Kentucky Staff Senate has been responsible for many great acts on behalf of the 15,000 Staff Members that are employed at UK. A few notable items are listed here, and we look forward the addition of more Senators to continue with these great acts!

Staff Shared Leave Pool

The Staff Shared Leave Pool is a pool of donated Vacation Leave (VL) time, which can be used by a staff employee who has exhausted all accrued paid leaves because of illness or injury affecting themselves or their family members.

Regular University of Kentucky staff employees with a 0.5 FTE (50 percent assignment) or greater can donate up to ten days of Vacation Leave per year to the pool.

The C.R.I.S.I.S. (Crisis Relief In Situations Involving Staff and Faculty) Program

The C.R.I.S.I.S. program is in place to help University of Kentucky employees who are experiencing personal hardship. This program provides temporary financial assistance in the form of a one-time payment of up to five hundred dollars.

The program is primarily funded by staff and faculty donations.

University and Community Involvement

The Staff Senate provides staff representation on many committee's, boards, and councils across campus. As a body the input from the various groups across campus is valuable to our ability to advocate for various causes.
